Obituary for Ruby "Millie" Young - Colasurdo
Ruby Amelia Young Colasurdo, known as Millie to many, passed away at the age of 91 on June 3rd, 2023 while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Ruby came to New York in 1954 though she never lost her beautiful island accent. She devoted her life’s work to caring for others as a nursing assistant for 32 years. She was well loved and made a profound impact on everyone she met.
Ruby loved to talk on the phone with friends, watch her game shows, dance to calypso music, enjoy a gin and tonic, and have a good time. Ruby was a loyal and caring friend to all who knew her and always made everyone feel special… she never forgot a birthday.
Ruby is predeceased by her beloved husband Michael Colasurdo. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and served as a role model who always brought people together and welcomed others into her home for holiday and Sunday dinners.
She is survived by her three daughters, Judy, Joy and Janet, her son- in laws, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She will forever be missed and always remembered.
